That giant sucking sound is business moving out of Michigan. Our fair Jenny is doing her best to drive out one of the few viable industries in the state. Reform can be done just by limiting the PIP. Freezing rates is simply not justified.
Well, Michigan, I have to agree with you. Ideally, you want to create a healthy environment for insurance companies so competition will drive rates down. Fortunately, insurance is still state regulated and the MI legislature will have alot to say about this. There are some effective legislators there, including Senator Sanborn, past President of the National Conference of Insurance Legislators.
Just like Florida, the current commissioner forgot that half of their duty is to make certain that companies are solvent. Solvent companies pay claims. Profitable companies write coverage. Not sexy to the public however.
“Maintaining fiscal responsibility through additional budget cuts and reforms, including elimination of the Department of History, Arts, and Libraries”
Excuse me? Sounds like the youth of Michigan are about to lose out big-time. I realize that some things are still financed on a county level, but having the state back up the county when it comes to education still seems to me like a good idea.
There are few businesses remaining here to pay the employees. No business taxes, no income taxes and no property taxes. That’s why the Governor is trying to run insurance companys out of the state. Start with a clean state and we can repopulate with more productive people I will turn the light out when I leave.

Mr. President Obama sir?
Can you please make Jenny a secretary of some do-nothing department so she can’t screw up my state anymore? Quickly?
