I’ve handled MN work comp as well as several other states. MN has a complicated system. Perhaps they should simplify it.

Anyone who has handled more than one jurisdiction for any length of time will agree that the work comp game rules per state determine the benefits types and amounts — and also the expectations of the claimants. The same injury in different jurisdictions creates different expectations of “What I’m owed”.

My point being, the MN claimants probably aren’t truly underpaid except as defined by the Byzantine comp system MN has proudly instituted to protect the rights of the worker. Perhaps the bailout(s) can help pay for some of the underpayments instead of making the evil insurance companies pay up.

[Not too shabby for a Friday afternoon rant. I did my best.]

And it was a very good rant.
