First Chicago Insurance Co. will contribute $1 to the Fisher House Foundation for every insurance policy the company issues in 2011, the insurer has announced.
In selecting a charitable partner for the year, First Chicago aimed to find an organization that shared its commitment to excellence and service. The Fisher House Foundation, which supports America’s military families in their time of need, was the logical choice, the company said.
In addition to the policy related donations, First Chicago employees will also participate in a variety of special fundraising events that will benefit the Fisher House.
Fisher House is a “home away from home” for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. Currently, 53 Fisher Houses grace the grounds of dozens of major military and Veterans Affairs medical facilities in the United States and in Landstuhl, Germany. Collectively, they have served more than 142,000 families since the program’s inception, and during 2010, Fisher House accommodated 12,000 military families.
First Chicago Insurance Co. was founded in 1920; its original name was Chicago Ice Producers Mutual Liability Co. The company currently distributes its products through a network of independent insurance agents located in Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. It offers standard and non-standard personal auto insurance, commercial auto insurance and artisan general liability insurance.
As a way of communicating its corporate commitment to the Fisher House Foundation, the First Chicago corporate Web site will feature a link to the Fisher House Web site.
