Officials say federal and state disaster assistance for victims of North Dakota flooding has gone over the $50 million mark.
The money includes grants and low-interest loans. It has gone to residents in Barnes, Burleigh, McHenry, Morton, Ramsey, Renville, Richland and Ward counties, as well as the Spirit Lake Nation.
The payments include more than $48 million for temporary housing and essential home repairs. Nearly $500,000 has been approved for disaster-related expenses not covered by insurance or other sources.
The Small Business Administration has approved nearly $6 million in low-interest loans to individuals and businesses.
More than 8,500 people have registered with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for disaster insurance, and there have been more than 1,700 inspections of damaged homes.
