Hundreds of volunteers have converged on Henryville in southern Indiana, which was devastated by a deadly March tornado outbreak, for a weeklong effort to rebuild 10 homes.
The Habitat for Humanity building blitz began in chilly weather Monday morning in Henrvyille, a town about 20 miles north of Louisville, Ky., heavily damaged in the March 2 outbreak.
Habitat for Humanity of Indiana director Gina Leckron tells WDRB-TV the new homes can’t come soon enough for residents who’ve been waiting more than six months for permanent housing.
She says Habitat for Humanity hopes to get the 10 homes built quickly so the new homeowners can have a good holiday in their new homes.
WHAS-TV reports more than 200 volunteers are in Henryville to help with this week’s rebuilding effort.
