Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance Selects Martin as CEO

Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance announced that Joseph A. Martin, the company’s current chief operating officer (COO) and senior vice president, marketing, has been selected after a nationwide search to serve as its next executive vice president and chief executive officer (CEO) beginning in January 2014.

Current CEO Jerry Canada will retire in December 2013 after holding the position for 11 years.

Martin has been employed with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance since 1980 and has also served the companies as senior vice president and chief financial officer; senior vice president, life operations; and senior vice president, corporate services. He holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CFU) designations.

Martin is active in numerous industry committees and professional organizations. He also serves as chairman of the board of directors of Farm Bureau Bank, FSB.

Canada, originally from Charlotte County, Va., has served as executive vice president and CEO of Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance since Oct. 28, 2002.

With a home office in downtown Indianapolis and local offices in all 92 counties, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance serves Hoosiers with nearly 500 agents and approximately 1,200 employees living and working throughout the state. The company is a leader in auto and homeowners insurance and the largest writer of farm insurance in the state.
