Insurance Director Bruce Ramge has approved the two property/casualty insurance companies to domicile in Nebraska.
American Interstate Insurance Co. and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Silver Oak Casualty Inc., were previously domiciled in Louisiana. Both are subsidiaries of Amerisafe Inc.
American Interstate is a specialty provider of workers’ compensation insurance focused on small to mid-sized employers engaged in hazardous industries, particularly construction, manufacturing, trucking and agriculture. American Interstate actively markets workers’ compensation in 30 states and the District of Columbia. American Interstate has been licensed to do business in Nebraska since July 2, 1997.
Silver Oak is also a specialty provider of workers’ compensation insurance focused on small to mid-sized employers engaged in hazardous industries, such as construction, manufacturing, trucking and agriculture. Silver Oak actively markets workers’ compensation insurance in 11 states. Silver Oak has been licensed to do business in Nebraska since March 28, 2000.
These companies will have headquarters in Omaha and expect to hire approximately five to 10 employees in that location, according to the insurance department.
Primary operations will continue from the current office in DeRidder, La., Amerisafe’s home base.
