Sounds just like Missouri. No requirement to carry coverage. Get your car licensed then drop all coverage and drive for two years with out insurance. Yes Ohioians may see their cost go up. But the Uninsured Motorist and Underinsured Motorist cost increase will out pace the cost of the liability premium. And what have you accomplished if you have not put a penality in place to require compliance before an accident? Operating a motor vehicle is a previlege that comes with responsibility.
Financial responsibility laws are a joke. The law allows those who are the least responsible and hazardous to be on the road with the least amount of insurance.
There needs to be a sticker put on the auto tag showing the car has auto insurance, this would also help the police stop those who have dropped their insurance.
and of course those that drop their insurance will remove the sticker from their tags. sorry to be a wise guy but i think the sticker idea needs more work.
I agree with ned, don’t think the sticker idea will work. Lived in Massachusets years ago and if your liaability insurance was cancelled, the local police showed up and took your license plates off the car. I know that may not be the best use of police, but it seemed to work. Instead of sticker on, plates off.
