Joyce R. Banks, assistant comptroller for the Kansas Insurance Department (KID), has been appointed as the agency’s new comptroller.
Banks is replacing Kathy Bohnhoff, who is retiring from the department after 13 years.
Banks began working for KID in 1983 as a clerk typist. She moved into the accounting area in 1996 and assumed the assistant comptroller position in 2012.
The comptroller division at KID handles accounts payable and receivables for the department. The division receives and deposits to appropriate accounts more than $160 million each year. Most of these receipts go to the state’s general fund.
