This new ruling will not cost the builders $9,000 to $20,000. Lets face it the builders will be passing 100% of this cost to the consumer.

Great idea. The fire sprikler association must have a strong lobby in MN. Not only will you pay more for your new home you will also pay more for homeowner insurance to cover the potential for leakage. But, if you can afford a 4500 sq ft home in Mpls, of which very few a built annually, what are a few additional $.

First the cost to this is closer to the $9,000 which is about $2 per sq foot. On a 30 year loan is about $25 per month. Your homeowners insurance is more likely to go down than up because the likely hood of a leak is lower than that chance that you could have a fire and the fire cost the insurance company more. Most people think nothing about paying this type money to add fancy granite counter tops etc not sure why the safety of your family has a lower price tag because that what this does provides a chance for you to get out. The HBA comment about built safer is bull.
