The owners of a southwest Ohio mansion that burned to the ground last year are suing their insurance company for almost $60 million for allegedly not honoring their claims.
Court documents show homeowners Jeffrey and Maria Decker filed the lawsuit this month in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court in Cincinnati against Chubb National Insurance Co.
The lawsuit says the insurer didn’t honor the couple’s insurance claims and gave no reasonable justification.
The January 2014 fire at the 10,000-square-foot home in the upscale Cincinnati area of Indian Hill took hours to extinguish. The county auditor’s website listed it as worth more than $4 million.
Chubb couldn’t be reached for comment. The company’s Warren, N.J, office was closed due to bad weather.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
