The Griffith Insurance Education Foundation announced that Robert P. Restrepo Jr., chairman of Columbus, Ohio-based State Auto Insurance Cos., received its 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award during a ceremony at the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America’s (PCI’s) annual meeting.
Candidates for the 2015 Griffith Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award were selected by The Griffith Foundation Leadership Council, which includes insurance leaders, executives and academics. This year’s winner was recognized for exemplary commitments to education and for his support of the missions of The Griffith Foundation and PCI.
Restrepo has a broad and deep background in the property/casualty insurance industry, having served as senior vice president of personal lines at Aetna Life and Casualty Company; president and chief executive officer (CEO), personal lines, at St. Paul Travelers Companies; president and CEO at Allmerica Financial Corporation; and senior vice president of insurance operations at Main Street America Group.
Restrepo also serves on the board of directors of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, the Insurance Information Institute, Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD), Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited, and on the board of trustees of The Institutes.
He previously served as chairman of both PCI and the American Insurance Association, and he and Mary Frances, his wife, served as co-chairs of the 2011 campaign of the United Way of Central Ohio.
