This is as poorly written as the Wisconsin hunting story the Insurance Journal published on July 18th.

Reliance Standard Life Insurance Co did not refuse to pay as there was no negligence on the part of their insured therefore no obligation to pay. My goodness Insurance Journal, show some professionalism.

The insurance policy provided the EXACT coverage intended. Pay for defense costs and in the event of a judgment against the insured, pay the judgment to the available limits.

Your opening sentence sends a message that Reliance Standard Life Insurance Co was somehow not fulfilling its promise.

For goodness sakes, you’re an insurance journal. Please publish an accurate article!!!!!!!

However they did NOT pay the $300,000 accidental death benefit that the policy was purchased for. For goodness sakes.

    Joe,

They are not writing about auto liability. They are talking about his employers life insurance coverage.

A federal appeals court this week called the 2014 crash “tragic.” But it ruled in favor of Reliance Standard Life Insurance Co. because Krugman’s insurance policy through his employer said no money would be paid in an accidental death if a heart attack contributed to the death.
