Gallagher CEO Signs Pledge for Workplace Diversity, Inclusion

April 11, 2019

The head of Illinois-based global insurance brokerage, Gallagher, has signed a pledge to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace.

Gallagher Chairman, President and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher Jr., has signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge, the company announced.

By signing this commitment, Gallagher pledges to foster an environment where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected. Cultivating a diverse and inclusive workforce facilitates community, and also drives innovation and creativity.

“This pledge aligns with our thinking that by bringing people together from different backgrounds, cultures, experiences and perspectives, we are better equipped to do the right thing for our company, clients, colleagues and communities. If we only listen to a handful of perspectives, we’re just not going to do as well,” said Gallagher said in a prepared statement. “I, personally, am very involved in making sure that what we do as an organization is focused on this. Every single chance we get, we should consider the opportunity to become even more inclusive as an organization.

More than 600 CEOs representing the world’s leading companies and business organizations have signed the pledge, taking a critical step towards effecting positive change. It outlines a specific set of actions that companies will take to cultivate a workplace where diverse perspectives and experiences are welcomed and respected, where employees feel comfortable and encouraged to discuss diversity and inclusion, and where best known — and unsuccessful — actions can be shared across organizations via a unified hub, https://www.ceoaction.com.

In addition to the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion pledge, Gallagher leaders from Australia and the United Kingdom have signed the Inclusive Behaviours in Insurance CEO Pledge, spearheaded by Lloyd’s of London and Zurich Insurance.
