I have lived in Wisconsin for 19 years, I’m 32. I absolutely love it! The lakes, the people, the climate, you name it.

But how are the older generations expecting us to have more children when it costs $500 per month, per child, for full time child care?! I have two daughters and have worked 2 jobs for years to pay for their child care alone. $1000 per month for two kids to go to child care is very expensive, more than my mortgage in fact.

Maybe they could consider letting us write off ALL of our child care expenses on the state level (instead of just part of it on the federal side)? Maybe they could lower the fees associated with starting a day care business? A lot of people I know would use unlicensed day care providers because they couldn’t afford the licensed ones. There are a lot of things they could do to help parents in WI who are of child bearing age and couldn’t afford another child, even if they wanted to.

    1. Abolish the state tax for a while.
    2. Improve the weather. Wisconsin is frigid cold; at least that is the perception.
    3. Improve the Green Bay Packers. And get some more sports teams.
    4. Promote your cheese.

This had to be a joke.
      1. WI already has a low state tax overall.
      2. It’s not THAT cold. It ranges from 40 to 100 for at least 6 months out of the year. Yes January and February are cold, but we are big on ice fishing and snowmobiling. Both of which can be done in the cold, no problem. Honestly, I can’t even stand going further south than northern WI (where I live) after April 1st. It’s too hot.
      3. Not everyone cares about sports. I haven’t watched a football game in years. And sitting inside watching football sounds boring.
      4. We are already known for our cheese. LOL

But I appreciate the laugh =)

When we are playing golf down here in the south in March or April and it is blustery and in the 40’s, we say at least we aren’t in Wisconsin or Minnesota or we wouldn’t get to play until May or June.
