The surcharge rates for healthcare providers electing to be qualified under Indiana’s Medical Malpractice Act will go down in July, the Indiana Department of Insurance has announced.
The department outlined the rate change in Bulletin 257 to healthcare providers and medical professional liability insurers.
For physicians, the overall effective surcharge will decrease by 1.65% from the current rates. The surcharge for qualification of hospitals is an overall 2.1% decrease from the current effective rates.
The effective date for the new rates is July 1, 2021.
