An Illinois man accused of defrauding individuals by claiming to be an insurance adjuster doing roof repair after a recent hailstorm was arrested in Florida on Dec. 13.
Scott A. Lennington of Morton, Ill. was taken into custody by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office and Treasure Island Police Department. He was thought to have traveled to Florida after the passage of the recent hurricanes, the Quincy Police Department said in an announcement.

Lennington was doing business in Illinois as Hagel Claims Service. He was recently indicted by an Adams County Grand Jury.
According to the Quincy Police, Lennington would allegedly work with the victim’s insurance company to get a claim for roof damage and never return to do the work and would then forge the victims’ names on the checks.
The estimated loss is alleged to be nearly $225,000.
