Cavoores Joins White Mountains

The former chief operating officer of Reliance Group Holdings’ insurance operations has joined White Mountains Insurance Group Ltd. as managing director of the holding company for White Mountains’ pending acquisition, CGU Insurance Co. John Cavoores will oversee the U.S. property/casualty operations of U.K. insurer CGNU Group, which Bermuda-based White Mountains is buying for $2.53 billion.

Prior to joining Reliance in April, Cavoores was president of National Union Fire Insurance Co. of Pittsburgh, the D&O liability insurance unit of American International Group. Prior to that, he was chief underwriting officer at Chubb Corp.
