Heidi Miller will assume the role of vice chairman of insurance broker New York-based Marsh Inc. on Jan. 15, 2001, less than a year after joining Priceline.com Inc. Last November, Miller left Priceline.com Inc., which she had joined about eight months previously.
A Reuter’s report noted that Miller, 47, quit Priceline as the firm cut 16 percent of its staff. At the time, Miller indicated that she was seeking “a more established business environment” in which to apply her talents. Prior to her stint with Priceline, she served as CFO at Citigroup from 1998 to 2000. She began her career in 1979 at Chemical Bank and later joined Travelers Group Inc., which merged with Citicorp in 1998 to form Citigroup.
Shares of Priceline, which utilizes a “name-your-own-price” retail strategy, have fallen 98 percent since March 2000. According to Marsh Inc., which is owned by Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc., Miller will report to Marsh Inc. chief executive John Sinnott and will take charge of the company’s strategy, administration, communications, e-commerce, finance, human resources and technology.
