The Progressive Corporation announced that Jeff Yates has been retained as a consultant to the company’s agency business. Yates will consult with the company in its continuing efforts to help independent agents provide their customers with a competitively-priced product, 24-hour service, and technology that makes it the easiest insurance company with which to do business.
According to Progessive, Yates will provide expertise on virtually all issues, programs, processes and initiatives designed to help independent agents capture market share. His input is expected to help ensure agencies can profitably increase not only their Progressive book, but their overall business as well. He will also consult on communications strategies and tactics to the more than 30,000 independent agencies who represent the company countrywide.
Yates was recently appointed executive director of the Independent Insurance Agents of America’s (IIAA) Agents’ Council for Technology (ACT), whose mission is to enhance the competitive position of the independent agency system through the use of technology. Progressive is a member of ACT.
Yates will divide his time between his consulting practice and his position With ACT. He had previously served the IIAA in several capacities over a 25-year tenure, including 19 as its chief staff officer, before announcing his retirement last year.
