In a recent study of the reinsurance marketplace by Flaspohler Research Group, U.S. ceding companies, which include the world’s largest property and casualty companies, have ranked Guy Carpenter & Company, Inc. as the top intermediary in every category surveyed relating to reinsurance brokerage. Ceding company participants compared reinsurance brokers in a range of categories, covering the areas of customer satisfaction, ability to add value, market knowledge and expertise, and services and capabilities.
This is the third time that Guy Carpenter has received the highest ratings in the Flaspohler survey, with the gap between Guy Carpenter and its nearest ranking competitor widening in most categories since the previous company survey was conducted in 2001.
Flaspohler surveys the cedant marketplace on perceptions of reinsurance brokers every other year. The 2003 survey was conducted from July to August 2003, with 287 respondents representing insurance companies based in the United States.
“It is unusual for one company to dominate the rankings in this way, especially in light of the outstanding ratings of others,” said Rick Flaspohler at Flaspohler Research Group. “To see Guy Carpenter ranked number one in every category in three different surveys over the course of the past four years is remarkable.”
According to the Flaspohler findings, ceding companies consider Guy Carpenter to be the best in:

— Providing specialized product and coverage expertise
— Offering good advice on security
— Directing them to quality reinsurers with specific know-how
