The American Insurance Association announced that Great American Insurance Group has become its newest member.
“We are extremely pleased that Great American has chosen to join AIA,” stated President Robert E. Vagley. “This is a terrific national property-casualty company with a long and distinguished history of success. Our organization is proud to now count them as a member.”
Great American, headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, writes a wide variety of specialized commercial property/casualty policies through independent insurance agencies for businesses across the country. In 2003, companies in the Great American group wrote over $3 billion in direct written premium. It is owned by American Financial Group (AFG), also headquartered in Cincinnati.
“We believe membership in AIA is an excellent investment for Great American. The association has a good track record of effective legislative and regulatory advocacy at both the state and federal level and its staff has demonstrated technical expertise on issues important to our organization,” commented Karen Horrell, the Group’s executive general counsel.
“Great American fits in perfectly with the other impressive market leaders sitting around the AIA table,” Vagley added. “AIA member companies work hard every day, providing excellent products and service for their customers. In that same spirit, we work hard every day on our members’ behalf, providing them with unparalleled representation in the public policy arena that delivers real bottom-line benefits.”
