Deloitte & Touche LLP, a national professional services firms, has named Byron Spruell national leader of its Business Insurance Consulting (BIC) group. In addition, Greg Thaler has been named associate national director of the BIC practice.
Spruell, based in Houston and Chicago, has over 14 years’ experience in business insurance consulting, complex damage claims analysis, and dispute consulting. He has directed, prepared, presented, negotiated and settled claims on behalf of policyholders in business interruption and real and personal property losses.
Thaler, based in San Francisco, has been with Deloitte for six years, and has extensive experience preparing property, business interruption, and product recall insurance claims ranging from $100,000 to $200 million. He also has assisted clients with losses stemming from natural disasters, including the Washington State earthquake, which damaged numerous commercial buildings in Seattle, Tacoma, and Olympia, putting hundreds of companies out of commission and thousands of people out of work. The cost of the damage was estimated at more than $2 billion.
He also assisted clients with losses stemming from widespread natural disasters such as the Northridge, California and Kobe, Japan earthquakes; Typhoon Paka; and the Montserrat volcano among others.
Deloitte’s BIC group has worked on claims resulting from typhoons, gas tank explosions, earthquakes, and massive product recalls, resulting in the recovery of several billions of dollars for policy-holding clients.
