Thomas McDaniel has been named president of Kemper Auto and Home headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla. McDaniel succeeds Dale Hammond, immediate past president of Kemper Auto and Home who will serve as group executive for the personal lines insurance company until the end of the year.
McDaniel previously served as Kemper Auto and Home’s senior vice president of product management overseeing the company’s underwriting, product management and pricing departments.
Unitrin, Inc. acquired Kemper Auto and Home in the summer of 2002.
Thomas McDaniel’s insurance career spans three decades. Since joining Kemper Auto and Home in 1998, McDaniel built a team of underwriters, product managers and actuaries to improve the company’s core functions. He led the development of an automated underwriting system called DSS, Decision Support System, to gain efficiencies, improve results and streamline the underwriting process. McDaniel has also been responsible for Kemper Auto and Home’s Reinsurance.
Prior to joining Kemper Auto and Home, McDaniel held management positions at Continental Insurance Companies and Hanover Insurance Companies.
