National Flood Insurance Program Launches Agent Co-Op Program

October 4, 2004

Agents who advertise flood insurance in the newspaper, magazine, Yellow pages or on the radio are eligible for reimbursement under a program relaunched by the National Flood Insurance Program.

Agents are eligible for different percentages of reimbursements depending on how prominent the message about flood insurance is in the advertisement. An ad exclusively for flood insurance will get an agent a 50 percent reimbursement; an ad for flood insurance with other content lands 25 percent; an add primarily for another product with a mention of flood insurance nets 10 percent.

Agents can be reimbursed an additional 25 percent on advertising by completing a state-approved continuing education course on flood insurance—or one of the NFIP online training modules—anytime within the 12 months preceding the co-op request.

Associations and write-your-own companies can also receive 50 percent savings by grouping multiple agents together in the same ad and NFIP’s ad agency will create and place the grouped ads.
