I was watching TV on BBC (don’t watch the U.S. networks) and there were actually 2 people who, in response to a question about why they voted for Bush, responded, “Because I’m a Christian.” I couldn’t believe my ears. At the very least, those two (and how many others?) were just plain ignorant. At it’s worst, it’s another argument against organized religion for it’s contribution to serious group-think. “Because I’m Christian.” Wow.

Very sad day!!! I was hopeful that after all the debates that Americans would stop and say “What kind of a leader have we elected?” George W. does nothing more than protect the rich and listen to what others tell him to say…we don’t have a leader we have a PUPPET! Little George only wanted to do what his daddy couldn’t do, catch Saddam and get another term…his job is done now!

I totally agree. Bush came into 2000 with a domestic financial mess on his hands. All his focus and efforts were to keep us out of a recession, and then 9/11 changed everything. He had to redirect efforts towards security and still had to fight the recession (one of the shortest lengths, I might add). I believe he did very well with the cards he was dealt.

Why are so many South American and African countries, (too name a few) in such a mess? No-one has the guts to stand up – and if they do -they get murdered! You wanted a person as president who was willing to sell you out to a corrupt UN and cater to the French who were being BRIBED by a murdering madman?? Go research your facts and be grateful!

What did any Democratic president (Clinton) do after NUMEROUS attacks on America? The answer is NOTHING!! It’s about time we took a stand, and ended the threat of terrorism (whether on our soil or overseas) that has plagued America for years.

My one question. If Bush is a conservative, what happened to the concept of a balanced budget? Republicans call Democrats tax and spend liberals. Republicans are tax cutters, spenders, and then borrowers to make up the lost revenue. They never cut expenses to offset the revenue losses.

How can Bush keep waging a war without a means to pay for it? Every other wartime president had to pass a war tax.

I pity the person who has to clean up this mess in four years.

I’m not paranoid, but realistic. Face it, there is nothing we can do to stop a terrorist using conventional wartime methods. The only way to eliminate them is to develop underground intelligence sources and get to them before the become too well organized and financed.

If we proceed on our current track, we might as well attack Syria, Iran, and Saudi Arabia all at the same time. Each of these countries finances and harbors terrorists.

We can’t expect these arab countries to think and act like us. Freedom does not seem to be one of their major issues.

I am also ashamed to be part on an industry that supports him. I wonder what Ohio would do if the next terrorist attack were in Columbus or Cincinnati. America is no more secure than it was in 2001, despite the huge spending and the loss of lives overseas. The brave people laying down their lives for us deserve a better commander-in-chief.

I agree with the last few folks. We don’t know what terrorism is; is anybody really afraid to go to the grocery store? Come on. If a terrorist really wants to blow something up, there’s not a whole lot we can do to stop it. If the war has been so successful, why do we still have increased terrorism alerts? I’m more afraid of who Bush might appoint to the supreme court.

As far as gay marriage goes, you can’t legislate morality. You may not like it, but it’s a free country, and what happened to separation of church and state? Who is the government to legislate moral behavior based on Christian ethics? We have no “state religion”. If that’s the case, I want to see the laws banning adultery, fornication, swearing, etc. The ten commandents can’t be in the courthouse, but we’re basing laws on it? Haven’t any of these folks ever been to sunday school? If we can’t follow God’s laws, are we going to follow the governments? Go figure. If the churches don’t want to marry gays based on theological principles that’s fine, but it’s got nothing to do with whether they should be able to have a civil legal union and have rights of inheritance etc.

No I haven’t served in the Military but my dad is in the Army and I am proud of our soliders and I back them up 100 percent. This is there job to fight for our country when our president tells them to.
What I am saying is that Bush is telling the American people that we are fighting the war on terrorism. How is that when we let the man go free that did Sep 11. It’s been three years and we still don’t know where he is. But we invade another country because his father couldn’t get him. That’s sad.
As far as Clinton, you need to get over the intern thing. All presidents and people in the spotlight have sex scandels or something along those lines. Clinton just happened to get caught. Doesn’t have anything to do with the job he did as president for 8 years. I guarantee that the American people would vote Clinton in over Bush any day.

I am saddened by this election result. President Bush lied about what he would do for our country four years ago, so why should be believe he will help our country now. The most unfortunate part of this outcome is the two groups who most strongly supported Bush are the wealthy and religious zealots. These tow groups promote exclusion instead of inclusion among sects. Not only will this further divide the county, it will most assuredly discredit the US internationally. We need all peoples to assist is in stamping out terrorism, but taking this “I am the biggest, badest bully on the playground, and if you don’t play my way I will hurt you” is isolationistic. Isolationism or it is the American way or the highway will ultimately lead to America’s demise. I hope I am wrong, but does the Bible, for those of you out there who are Christians, mention a North American influence in the end times? No, it does not! Therefore, with your Republican endorsement you have approved, isolationism, cut us off globally and ensured our national defeat. Thank you from KEV crying on his American flag.

    (2) I do not take freedom for granted, and if you don’t believe that we are not much more hated in this world than we were 4 years ago, you clearly haven’t left our borders since dubbya took over.
    (3) Values? Do you mean making a decision based upon a preceived message from a higher power? I value someone with the wisdom to recognize when they have made a mistake, is willing to admit it, and then makes corrections.

First of all Brian, if you knew anything about Kerry, he was strongly opposed to immediate withdrawal of troops in Iraq. This was evidenced in many speeches, polls, etc. Secondly, the American people are all hypocrites. Who in this country actually has morals enough to base their vote on it? At least 80% of the men who voted for Bush and against gay marriage have sat at home getting off to lesbians but God forbid they love each other and want to join in a civil union, THAT IS IMMORAL!!!!! This makes me sick. We have resorted back to the 1950’s ideal where we put a veil over our eyes instead of dealing with reality of the lives we all live now. This isn’t a free country if we are told how to love or have religion thrown in our faces. Seperation of church and state, ever heard of it? Bush can now relax at home for 4 more years cleaning his guns, calling gays faggots, putting women’s lives in jeopardy by outlawing abortion (they will do it anyway, just illegally and unsafely), and then have the gall to post the Ten Commandments in federal buildings as if he is God. You call these morals? I call it fence swinging Texas hick mentality. And for those of you pulling the Terrorism card, it will happen whoever is in office. It is our President’s duty to keep the death toll down whatever happens, not concentrate on the dollar signs involved in war.

    Brian,

I commend you for your resolve. Big brother must be watching our scared friend.

It is shameful that so very many in this election thought only about those few hundred extra dollars they may get in their wallets instead of the lives lost of our compatriots and those for which our administration claims to be fighting.

By the very essence of the administrations lead (by God), we are again turning this mess into a crusade against Muslims. Do you think that we gain us influence in the world? How many times has w – used with a lower case letter b/c that is all he is worth- actually sat down with someone from outside his skull and bones group to negotiate objectively an issue? I think not much!

Let’s break it down where nearly every person can understand the great leadership void we now have… w traded away Sammy Sosa when he led the MLB Rangers because he saw no potential…What is Sammy doing today, other than leading the hapless Cubbies?

The country is divided deeper than ever and is spinning out of control with four more years of, “we are going to stay the course…” of certain American death.

Bush can’t find Osama can’t find jobs, can’t start to reduce the deficit, can’t rebuild issues happening right here in teh US, yet alone in another country, CAN WE PLEASE FIND ANOTHER PRESIDENT. You’re blaming Clinton for terrorism..?? Maggie there is no such thing as absolute or complete security no matter how you look at it. To say there would not have been a 9/11 is ludicrous.

If you want to talk reality Luciana, then how about the reality of a quality life with Parents, and morals that we left behind 60 years ago? Was that an illusion, and we are just now realizing your “reality” and becoming aware?

More likely, you and the liberals are desperate to get us to accept that your immoral lifestyles are normal.

They aren’t. The parts just don’t go together. Never have, and never will.

DONNA FOR PRESIDENT in 08! Well said.

We should be proud we live in a country where we ALL have a voice that can be heard. Our voices were heard and now we should all strive to show the world why and how Democracy works. Kerry articulated this in his speech today. Let the healing begin. He knows what a great Country this is and wants us all to go forward. Hopefully after all this settles down, he can now have more of a voice to make some of the changes he talked about during his campaign.

Don’t be scared, you will never have to see your eccentric neighbor kiss his boyfriend in a wedding ceremony, Bush would not allow it. Who says we were more moral 60 years ago? Did anyone here actually read the article? Why is everyone going on about the war in Iraq? This is a business publication. Presumably you all work for the insurance industry.

It is no coincidence most thinking people in this industry looked at the prospect of a Kerry win with fear and trepidation. The insurance industry has enough trouble on it’s hands just now on account of it’s corrupt system of contingency payments and big rigging. I am sometimes ashamed by what I see insurance companies do.

But nothing shames and offends me quite so much as the tremendously high level of waste, fraud and abuse in the legal system…in this increasingly lawyer driven society.

Bottom line: If you work in the insurance business and voted against Bush the depth of your loyalty to the industry is in serious doubt in my book.

That being said, Bush won b/c he is the devil we know. I suspect most thinking people who voted for Bush did so with some conscious misgivings as to issues like the deficit and the increasing power of Big Business…tax breaks, give aways to Big Pharma etc. (Not that the Dems are much harder on Big Business anymore…)

The Leftist notion that all Bush supporters support Bush blindly and unthinkingly is just as misguided and elitist as the notion that Bush is an idiot. Bush has increasingly proven to be not nearly so happless as the left of center mass media has tended to want to portray him.

Kerry lost because for all Bush’s fault’s Bush is more down to earth. Kerry’s breeding and attitude often makes Bush’s smugness seem rather tolerable by comparison.

Kerry lost owing to some very simple things…his nonexistent (or rather hidden/avoided)Senate record, his tawdry and silly over playing of his Vietnam War tour of duty, and his pigheaded refusal to allow that the public might be more inclined to remember Kerry’s coming back from Vietnam and admittedly exaggerating of atrocities there…much like the absurd characterization of the sheer folly in Abu Graib as an “atrocity”.

9/11 was a genuine actocity. The continuing beheadings of innocent civilians is an atrocity. Lets call a spade a spade. The folks who played up Abu Graib traded their patriotism for political gain.

Kerry also lost because of things like his bogus assertion that he refuses to “impose his beliefs” or morals on anyone else. That is an unabashed lie. Tell the unborn children who never get to see the light of day they have not suffered the consequences of anyone imposing their belief on them! Leaders always end up imposing their morals on someone or other. And any prospective leader who says otherwise is patently deceitful and/or too bloody weak to effectively lead.

The notion Bush is a liar is commonplace among the Left. Yet it’s nothing more than an ad hominem attack. Kerry’s flip-flopping is far more demonstrable. Bush may be a bit too certain of himself at times, but certainty is not unknown to Kerry. He is certain to say whatever he thinks will get him elected…even if might need to pretend in the last few weeks that he’s gotten religion. It didn’t work.

Mr. Proud of the American Voters, do you know where your money is going?? You mention that you’d rather have your money go on terrorism, but the fact of the matter is, Osama is still at large, we haven’t found anything close to “weapons of mass destruction” and our troops, by the way, don’t have the essential equipment they need to fight the war in Iraq. Today, we’ve still got immigrants entering our country illegally (just had a case recently in Charlotte, NC), Osama is still at large gaining new members to the terrorist population, there is no clear resolution to the war, and you so confidently talk abut your money being used to fight terrorism. You might want to do some more research and find out exactly where YOURS and every other tax paying citizen’s money has been going because if you believe it has been used to fight terrorism, then you too have been misled….by the Bush administration. Other than heightened airport security, and the creation of disaster recovery plans, I haven’t seen the fruits of that labor yet. But in case you’re struggling to get started, I’ll help you out. A large portion of the billions of dollars spent thus far have gone towards Bush’s personal vendetta to capture Saddam Hussein. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t support anyone who won’t work and expects a handout from the government, but please help me, other than us trying to buy our way out of a messed situation in Iraq, where has “YOUR” money on terrorism been spent???

Clinton sucked (or blew)It was Newt Gingrich and the Contract For America that made your life easier. Daschle the obstructionist dragged along this current economy, which by the way is doing better than under your hero Clinton’s re-election. Also, the “irrationallly exuberant” tech stock debacle burst right as your phoney president left office. this is probably where your trouble began, exacerbated by 9/11. Bush is back, Daschle is out, the Republicans gained a greater majority, the Supreme Court is protected from leftist judges – It is “morning in America” all over again!

Per the usual, you fail to account for the thought processes of your opponent.

It’s inherrent in their moral/beleif systems, and would imply a great many things about thier thought processes, and decision making.

They aren’t explaining it beyond that one liner because they expect that even a liberal would do the mental math and see the implications.

A christian would vote for him for a multitude of reasons
    1. He acknowledges he is accountable to a greater power
    2. He believes unborn children have the right to exist, and were created for a reason.
    3. He believes that the disintigration of the moral fabric of america is attributable to the breakdown of family.

    etc etc etc.

Know your opponent, before you attempt to speak about thier “blindness”.

Linda I agree with you Clinton was an amazing president. If people look at his record for the eight years he was in office more people were employed and the economy was great. The elderly had better health care then they do now. Since Bush has been in the unemployment rate went up and our economy is going down. The elderly can’t get good health care. They are telling doctors to only do whats neccesarry for them to survive because they can’t afford medications. This is sad, I know this for a fact because my mother works in a hospital. Military familes got more benifits and money when Clinton was in office. Now all that money is going to the war. I know this because my dad is in the Army. I would vote Clinton in any day. I am looking forward to 2008 when Hillary Clinton runs and makes this a better American and cleans up after Bush.

He left Osama Bin Laden to blow up the WTC 1, the Kobar Towers, The USS Cole, The Black Hawk down in Somalia. Half the military was on food stamps when Bush came in.

Ashcroft a nut? Janet Reno burned down a church full of people, and entered a private home to thieve a little boy at gunpoint.

Gingrich cut taxes, reformed the government, passed the line-item veto, but failed – because of Democrats, to pass a flat tax and a balanced budget amendment. Hillary wanted to governmentalize our healthcare system and make it like a huge DMV. Democrats are full of great, popular ideas, that is why the gained an overwhelming majority in 2004! If everyone is so convinced that W is going to save us all from terrorism and the war in Iraq is justified, then you have to ask yourself – why aren’t we at war with Saudi Arabia? We were attacked on September 11th by Al Qaeda – led by Osama Bin Laden, a Saudi and conducted by 19 hijackers – of which 15 were Saudi (none were Iraqi nor were there any ties to Iraq as founded by the 9/11 commission)! Think about it people! The war in Iraq makes no sense at all – we were never attached by them!! I will tell you the reason we are not at war with Saudi Arabia, and that is because Bush and his cronies are “in bed” with them because of oil. If you don’t believe this, you are in denial.

Now we are undertrooped in Iraq and don’t have enough reserves at home, but there’s not going to be a draft?! What happens if we are attacked again? Or if we need to go “free” another country? Where are these troops going to come from? And the war in Iraq is a total mess, so we can’t take troops out of there!

This was a sad day in American history that these people cannot see the truth for trying to protect this man who is not qualified to manage a McDonalds, let alone the United States of America. The only good thing is now it is all on the Republicans for the next 4 years – let’s see what all they can get accomplished (freeing the entire world from themselves, tort reform, cutting the deficit in half, medical insurance for everyone, etc….we’ll see!)

400,000 tons of weapons can cause mass destruction, my friend. Instead of fertilizer in the WTC, the explosives alleged to be missing (probably among the destroyed) could’ve toppled the 2 buildings less complicatedly than 2 stolen airplanes. Tunnels, bridges, embassies – Clinton was an appeaser, and we suffered smaller losses along the way, and then the big one which was being planned for years in the term of President Blew Dress. He had his chance, as did France to take out the terrorist. He chose to continue his fratboy Presidency along with his toe-sucking commrade Dick Morris, talking on the phone with each other while being serviced, blowing up baby food factories in a wag-the-dog operation.

The weapons will turn up, my dear, but maybe then you’ll claim they were planted there by Halliburton.

Is Big Insurance George W. Bush? It sures sounds like it. So much name calling and little sense being made, it’s no wonder you voted for him.

Bush could not admit any mistake he made (and we all know there are many, not the least of which is the 380,000 tons of missing weapons in Iraq – oh, that’s right, per Rudy Giuliani {Bush spokesperson}, that should be blamed on our TROOPS! Anyone but Bush!) Maybe we could turn that around to be Clinton’s fault too. God knows Bush has done everything right! Must be nice to live in your fantasy world. If we did live there, then everyone would be happy Bush was re-elected instead of being REALISTIC about the negative implications of his second term. Let’s hope it’s better than his first term, couldn’t be much worse!

Jen, your losing it babe. The New York Times’ trumped up hit piece refered to only 380 tons,1/1,000th of your estimate which by the way was probably destroyed along with the 400,000 tons of already discovered and destroyed weaponry.

After Jimmy Carter, the self-appointed envoy to North Korea visited Kim Jung Il, and after Madeliene Albright visited the far east, after Wen Ho Lee the nuclear scientist leaked missile technology, after the Riyadi family funneled millions to the Clinton/Gore Campaign, after Al Gore got on television to make his “no controlling legal authority” defense, after Hillary rented out the Lincoln Bedroom, had “coffees” with drug dealers, the North Koreans got nuclear technology and the Chinese got better missile technology to deliver it in the form of a nuclear warhead – possibly to the United States. Our security was for sale to the highest bidder in exchange for campaign contributions. Anything to win!

Is everything great with Bush? No scandal. No weapons of Mass Destruction? Not yet! Halliburton? Aren’t they still under a no-bid contract in Bosnia? The perjured, impeached, disbarred president is still idolized by you self-serving, myopic yuppies. Is the world turned on it’s head, or is it that with no basis for an absolute morality do we call black white and white black because it is really all justgray?

I for one am very happy with the outcome of the election. Mr Bush may not be the most elegent public speaker but he does say what he means and he does not flip flop his comments so one will hear what they want to hear. I feel safe knowing he will use the “resources available” to protect me and the United States. Our country needs tort reform and now we have a chance (this would not be the case under the leadership of Kerry). Tort reform will benefit all, not just a few.
Some of teary comments made below reflect very juvenail thought processes.

Great – the Republicans answer to everything – what about Clinton!? Accept it – Bush has had 3 years since Bin Laden attacked us and he is still on the run laughing and planning more attacks against us. That is not Clinton’s fault! Clinton has been out of office for 4 years now. Accept the facts!

Huh? Doesn’t flip flop? What again were his reasons for going into Iraq? When he first decided to appeal to Congress and the U.N., what were his reasons for wanting to go into Iraq? Answer that question before you answer the next one.

Okay, now what are the reasons he’s giving now? “Saddam was a bad man. He killed his own people (now Bush is killing Saddam’s people). He MIGHT have helped Al Queda.” Bush is the biggest flip-flopper of them all.

You are correct about one thing. He DOES NOT, “flip flop his comments so one will hear what they want to hear.” He flip flops his comments so one will hear what HE WANTS US to hear. If you cannot see the difference, it’s time, with all due respect, to go back to school Old Guy.

You hit on 1 of the 10 reasons Bush went to Iraq. I guess you missed the memo… Everybody knew Sadam had the Weapons they just didn’t know where they were. Oh by the way they are still uncovering mass graves,,, what is the body count??? Isn’t it somewhere over 100,000 now, women, children and men? Guess how they were killed…. maybe chemical weapons!!! But they don’t matter. Isn’t a chemical weapon considered a weapon of mass destruction? Coulnd’t 400 tons of weapons build a weapon of mass destruction? I forgot it was Bush’s turn to guard those weapons.

I bet you can’t guess what type of environment I have been trained to operate in during my Naval and Army career? 1 hint it includes a gas mask.

This is 2004 and you should no better than to refer to someone with sexist terminology like BABE! But whatever turns you on. Also, 380 tons is still a hell of a lot of missing weapons that could be used against us since we don’t really know if they “were probably destroyed” or not, don’t you agree?!

I noticed all your rantings on democrats and Asia, but there were some more interesting Middle Eastern (since that’s what we’re currently dealing with)/Republican ties you failed to mention…such as Bush’s CIA training and arming Osama Bin Laden….paying and providing arms to Iran to fight against Iraq and vice versa…this could go on and on, but I’m sure you are already aware, but just failing to mention these significant items. You see America has propped up, provided weapons for and even trained these “evildoers” to “do their evil” against us. It’s not all Clinton and Carter’s fault. A lot of it is Reagan and Bush Sr.! But I’m sure you will find a way to spin the truth to blame it on some democrat.

Next, if it is OK to impeach a President based on lying about a sexual relationship with an intern, no matter how inappropriate….it is a much bigger problem for a President to LIE to the American people about a reason to go to WAR with Iraq (i.e. weapons of mass destruction) and also to have our men and women killed for “flip-flopping” reasons when none are good enough! Bush should have been impeached, but instead our brilliant American public re-elected him.

It’s so refreshing to see Jen do such a thorough analysis of the American electorate.

I guess we didn’t see it because we are so “brilliant” as she so eloquently states.

Maybee, just maybee jen, you lack the insight to see how real issues have to be handled rather than the candyland vision of global responsibilities Clinton and Carter have. Loved that whole “Iranian Hostage crisis” Carter had and how he is a self-appointed liason to North Korea.

Must have been somehow related to Big oil and Republican ties, but I fail to see how. maybee, just maybee the middle east is a cesspool that bogs down EVERY administration with tough real life choices.

But then again, I am just one of the “brilliant” American majority who elected the President and don’t have your supreme, carter global perspective of “just leave them alone and they will be nice to us”.

I thought I’d get your ire with that! Seems you and I are both hardcore.

It’s easy to dismiss 380 tons of explosives that were transported away almost 2 years earlier. Chances are they were discovered elsewhere and disposed of. As far as the “LIE”, it appears we bought Saddam’s bluff, as did the British. Saddam had the weapons, we just don’t know where they are yet. Do the insurgents have them? That is now their insinuation as to why we should back out of Fallujah, the implication being they are in their care, custody and control. As for “old” Europe, I suppose they we part of the conspiracy in the oil-for-food corruption. They were hiding. They’d rather we blow up Iraq than fess-up their corrupt behavior.

In the end, the Democrats must learn that the U.S. Constitution provides for individual freedoms from the government, not government entitlements for the people. The “Big Mob” mentality of liberals has marginalized them, and along with them the Democrat Party to the point that their fight has become the party of death and disfunction. People don’t like to have their freedoms usurped by some self-serving judge or some sick Canadian like Michael J. Fox.

There was a time that we as a society considered the work of Josef Mengele horrific, but we can justify the same experimentation on would-be people, just as easily as we tolerate the insertion of scissors into the skull of our own flesh and blood to have the brain “evacuated” because their unplanned arrival proved to hard or inconvenient.

Somebody E-mailed these comments and it is amazing how blind to the issues some people can be. I am an AMERICAN SERVICE MEMBER and crew a medivac blackhawk helocopter. I have and will face any situation to save another person. My biggest fear was John Kerry and this is why. John Kerry had a world view. He wanted to deploy American Soldiers under U.N. control, under U.N. commanders that could careless about AMERICAN SERVICES MEMBERS and be held accountable to WORLD courts. Not only have I done two deployments but I am constanly serving in the U.S. Search and Rescue, medivac support. I can not speak for all service members but I have served under the last 4 Commander in Chiefs! I remember the first thing Clinton did was “don’t ask don’t tell”, and put solders under U.N. control.

I Love the comments. Everybody wants to jump on Jenn with the “facts”. I have yet to see any “facts”. Sounds like a “Big Mob” mentality toward Jenn. Big Insurance, you say Saddam had the WMDs and we just have not found them YET. Not quite true. *** Iraq’s Continuing Programs for Weapons of Mass Destruction, either overstated, or were not supported by, the underlying intelligence reporting.- SELECT COMMITTEE ON INTELLIGENCE UNITED STATES SENATE*** All reports since the war began say that there were no WMDs. While we are at it how exactly do you know that the 380tons of explosives were moved out 2yrs earlier. Jeez, you would think if big insurance had this info the President would have known as well.*** The Iraqis told the nuclear agency the materials had been stolen and looted because of a lack of security at governmental installations, spokeswoman Melissa Fleming said***”We do not know what happened to the explosives or when they were looted,” said spokeswoman Melissa Fleming.FoxNews.com*** It seems you are the only one who knows what happened.

How about you KirkT? I appreciate your service but I do not see what your job title has to do with these questions, unless of course you are a chemical or biological weapons expert or maybe even a forensics expert but. You say that 1 of 10 reason’s was identified by Jenn.*** Iraq continues to flaunt its hostility toward America and to support terror. The Iraqi regime has plotted to develop anthrax, and nerve gas, and nuclear weapons for over a decade. This is a regime that has already used poison gas to murder thousands of its own citizens — leaving the bodies of mothers huddled over their dead children. This is a regime that agreed to international inspections — then kicked out the inspectors. This is a regime that has something to hide from the civilized world.- The President’s State of the Union Address The United States Capitol Washington, D.C.*** I only see one reason Kirk, WMDs. There is mention of families being killed but only to strengthen his case for WMDs. You also imply that the mass graves were caused “maybe chemical weapons!!!”, as it turns out maybe not.*** Each person had relatives, parents, and a family that was later forced to pay for the bullets used to kill them when a bill was dispatched to each household. Shianews.com*** I don’t believe bullets are require for chemical weapons to work. Now, you do pose an interesting question, Coulnd’t 400 tons of weapons build a weapon of mass destruction? Referring to the missing 380-tons of high explosives. As it turns out NO is the answer. ***Deputy White House spokesman Trent Duffy told FOX News that the Defense Department is looking into what happened to the missing explosives — which Duffy characterized as conventional, saying there’s nothing to suggest they’re nuclear weapons.- FoxNews.com Wow, sounds like even the White House doesn’t believe the 380-tons are WMDs. You should call the White House and set them straight.

Old Guy I did not forget you. “Mr Bush may not be the most elegent public speaker but he does say what he means and he does not flip flop his comments so one will hear what they want to hear.” Now, I will address this toward tort reform which you seem concerned with. ***”We’re one of the first states that said you can sue an HMO for denying you proper coverage… It’s time for our nation to come together and do what’s right for the people. And I think this is right for the people. You know, I support a national patients’ bill of rights, Mr. Vice President. And I want all people covered. I don’t want the law to supersede good law like we’ve got in Texas.”- Governor Bush, 10/17/00] And yet today he wants Tort reform. Sounds like he was against your thoughts and then flip-flopped so “one will hear what they want to hear”. You also mention “I feel safe knowing he will use the “resources available” to protect me and the United States.” That is as general a statement as anyone will make. Does that mean not giving incentives to North Korea to stop producing WMDs or does it mean he would support these incentives? If you look around at President Bush’s comments he has said both. I would add those comments as well but this is already too long. Let me know and I will send them to you though. Sorry, to not giving your section as much work.

All in all pretty much everything you said is not true but gentlemen don’t let facts get in your way. I am awaiting your facts backed by resources.

Maybe my resorces aren’t as limited as you may think? You are right my CURRENT job doesn’t qualify me to make the statements on WMD’s. but you didn’t respond to my statement on John Kerry’s support on the U.N.
Second do a little more reasearch on why Bush took us to war…beacuse I remember everybody screaming to go after Sadam the day of 911 and Bush waited. If you need refrences I’ll give them to you when I have the time to look them up. Point is he didn’t rush to war and believe me I follow this very closely because it affects me and my family first hand!
Third do you remember the war Iraq was having with Iran? Did you know Sadam used CHEMICAL WEAPONS on the Iranians? How about the Kurds to the North, did Sadam gas them as well. Our military intel has known he has had them and would use them!! I have spent over 100 hours at MOPP 4 in the Gulf…. So even though CHEMICAL weapons weren’t use to kill everybody in IRAQ once is enough for me… CHANCES CAN’T BE TAKEN. Have you seen what they do to people? Are you willing to take that chance?
Fourth- Do you know how to build a WMD? I takes a series of explosions… How about a dirty bomb… How about a ship loaded with explosives and chemical’s? Personally in my opinion Sadam with a pocket knife is a WMD…

Kirk please don’t be so defensive. I never said your sources were limited I said you did not provide any resources and that is still true. Make any comments you like but they are still just your comments and not facts.

1st-I have yet to see any info that Kerry wanted to turn the US Army over to the UN. It would be difficult for me to get a quote for something that was never said.
2nd-My research on the reason’s Bush went to war are taken from his State of the Union address. His words to the people. Now, the people you were around may have been clamoring for war but they are not the people making the decisions. So, post the comments if you like I posted the comment from the decision maker, the Commander-in-Chief. Nobody accused anyone of rushing to war. I don’t know where you got that from so that is not part of the discussion either.
3rd-I have heard that he used chemical weapons on the Kurds and Iranians but that also is not the discussion. Nobody denies he had them 12-15yrs ago, the questions is when we went to war and the evidence is he did not have them at that time. My source was the Senate.
4th-You said “Coulnd’t 400 tons of weapons build a weapon of mass destruction?” Not could they be used to detonate a WMD. So, the answer is still NO they were not WMDs. My source, the White House Spokesman. I do appreciate your adding the Sen McCain and David Kay comments but if you look closely at your own resource they say “So the point is, if he were in power today, there is no doubt that he would harbor ambitions for the development and use of weapons of mass destruction. Is there any doubt in your mind?” AMBITIONS. That is not the same as has WMDs. Many people have AMBITIONS of being rich but they can’t spend AMBITIONS and he can’t detonate AMBITIONS

Kirk, again where are your facts backed by resources? Nobody is talking about a gun with no bullets. We are talking about a war being waged over WMDs that do not exist. I appreciate that you and the people you are around have to go where you are told and do what you are told but it has no bearing on the facts. I am not even sure what you mean by “You are very good at being selective about you address.” All I have asked is that you stay on topic and provide verifiable resources for your statements. If you cannot provide these verifiable facts then your statements are just comments and not true for the discussion. Again do not be so defensive. I only want to see you verify what you say with verifiable facts and not just talk.

One thing is sure we will never agree. I could give you all the facts in the world and it wouldn’t be enough. What I have been trying to tell you is that I have been there and seen it first hand. The worst part is that I wouldn’t even know where to begin to describe what I’ve seen. You have your news sources and have the ability to be selective. The one thing that makes our country great is the ability to disagree and go on and not be punished for speaking out.

Again you make a statement with no facts. “I could give you all the facts in the world and it wouldn’t be enough.” I would be quite open to viewing your facts backed up by resources. It is not that I am unwilling to listen and believe, but I will not accept comments and heresay as evidence that something is true. I do believe you have seen horrible things during your time in Iraq but I do not believe you saw WMDs, chemical or otherwise, which is what you intially brought up. So, without the verifiable evidence that I have been mentioning it is just some guy somewhere with a computer spewing comments not facts.

As far as my being selective, what is it that I am selective about? The sources that I site? Is it Foxnews, White House, or Senate sub-committee that you do not believe. The issues that I addressed where chosen by you and the other two contributers I mentioned in my first submission. So, I had no part in how narrow or broad the discussion would be.

However, I do agree with you on one thing,”The one thing that makes our country great is the ability to disagree and go on and not be punished for speaking out.” I believe that the comments by Jenn should be afforded that same luxury. I do not believe that was true at the time or now and thus I responded.
