The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation is partnering with the Insurance Journal to reach out to the insurance community for support and help for the victims and families of Hurricane Katrina.
Beginning early last week, the Insurance Journal along with many other communication partners including IEA, IBA West, Insurance Information Institute (III), IICF’s Foundation Board Members and their companies, helped to “get the word out” about this nationwide campaign. IICF is also talking with other organizations like RIMS, CPCU, American Agents Alliance and PCI to consider joining this effort. It is hoped all insurance companies, reinsurance companies and independent agents and brokers will consider making a small donation through their industry Foundation. Even a small personal donation will help improve the life of an individual impacted by this disaster.
Entering the second week of this project, the effort has received support from as far away as London, England and from East Coast friends in Virginia. Many companies are running employee matching campaigns and IICF has received notification from Chubb & Son in Southern California, The Sullivan Group, Los Angeles and CSE in Northern California that their employee contributions will be matched and distributed through the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation.
According to IICF CEO Bill Ross, “We hope the insurance community in California and across the nation will continue to step up and support hurricane Katrina victims and their families. The needs remain significant. Please consider making a donation through the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation. Together we can make a difference, helping communities and enriching lives, together.”
