Armonk, N.Y.-based Hiscox USA, the U.S. subsidiary of Hiscox plc, will begin providing terrorism insurance in the United States.
“Hiscox has over 25 years of experience in terrorism insurance and we are a global leader in this area,” said Hiscox Terrorism Underwriter, Stephen Ashwell. “We look forward to developing our U.S. team and introducing our specialist coverage to the U.S. broker network.”
The coverage will be offered to brokers through Hiscox USA’s Armonk, N.Y., headquarters with a team of underwriters and professionals. The key contact for the product in the U.S. will be Alex Heywood, vice president of terrorism insurance at Hiscox USA.
“In the current climate there is a necessary focus on issues such as business continuity and recovery and organizations are strongly encouraged to take responsibility for ensuring they are adequately covered for acts of terrorism,” explained Heywood. “Working with leading security and risk consultancy, Control Risks Group, we can provide an immediate on-the-ground response to US customers in the event of a crisis.”
Since its March 2006 opening, Hiscox USA has been growing its product line. The company has launched professional indemnity and now terrorism coverage, and plans to offer fine art coverage shortly, said Ed Donnelly, president of Hiscox USA.
