Appalachian Underwriters Inc. said it has purchased CRC Insurance Service’s guaranteed cost workers compensation program.
The program mirrors that of Appalachian’s existing state and carrier footprint very closely, according to Bob Arowood, president and chief operating officer of AUI, which is based in Clinton, Tenn.
Arowood said the acquisition is a boost to his firm’s western expansion plans.
In June, AUI has acquired the assets of USAdministrators in Atlanta, another MGA specializing in workers’ compensation markets to approximately 2,000 agents throughout the Southeast.
Appalachian Underwriters, Inc. is a managing general agency, providing independent agents a national wholesale outlet to markets for workers’ compensation, commercial specialty and personal lines of insurance.
CRC Insurance Services Inc. is the wholesale insurance subsidiary of Branch Banking and Trust Company.
