MedRisk has expanded its Expert Provider Organization (EPO) for workers’ compensation into 10 additional states.
Under the EPO model, physical therapists, occupational therapists and chiropractors agree to a unique reimbursement structure based on diagnosis and the chronicity and severity of work-related injuries.
MedRisk claims that its EPO typically delivers savings of between 30 and 40 percent below fee schedule and UCR (Usual, Customary and Reasonable charges) on physical medicine claims.
The states added include Ala., Ariz., Ark., Id., Mich., Miss., Mont., Neb., Nev. and N.H. MedRisk’s EPO is now available to employers that self-insure workers’ compensation programs, municipalities, insurance carriers, third-party administrators in a total of 36 states. These states represent more than 80 percent of all workers’ compensation premiums.
