Great American Insurance Group, based in Cincinnati, Ohio, has added specialized protection for storage tanks as part of a standard marina package policy. The new coverage enables marina owners to cover all of their business risks with products from a single insurance carrier, the company says. Great American’s marina package policy also includes property, commercial general liability, marine operating legal liability and other marine-specific coverages.
The new package policy also satisfies regulations in force in more than 30 states that require the certification of financial responsibility in the event of a leaking storage tank. The policy covers environmental claims due to seepage from an above or below ground storage tank on marina property, including clean-up costs, bodily injury and property damage up to $1 million per occurrence. Great American also provides coverage for marine pollution from vessels with its Vessel Pollution Program.
