Dunmoyer to Lead State Government Affairs for Farmers, Zurich in U.S.

Farmers Insurance Groups of Companies and Zurich Financial Services announced Dan Dunmoyer, who recently served as chief cabinet secretary and deputy chief of staff for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, has accepted a national, executive position as head of State Legislative and Regulatory Affairs for Farmers Insurance and Zurich Financial Services in the United States.

As senior vice president and head of State Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, Dunmoyer will be responsible for leading a national team situated in state capitols and major cities across the country. He will provide overall strategic direction and guidance for existing state political grassroots programs and networks, which include thousands of small business, financial service professionals representing Farmers and Zurich in every corner of the United States.

Paul N. Hopkins, chairman of Farmers Group and CEO of the Americas for Zurich Financial Services Group, said Dunmoyer’s experience in California state government and the private sector has “perfectly positioned” him for a high-level executive assignment for a global organization such as Farmers/Zurich.

From 2005 until the present, Dunmoyer has held senior level leadership positions in Governor Schwarzenegger’s administration as chief cabinet secretary and deputy chief of staff; and as deputy chief of staff and senior advisor for Policy Development. In his most recent position, Dunmoyer advised the governor on the daily management activities for all state agencies and departments for the state of California.

From 1996 until 2005, Dunmoyer worked in the private sector as president and CEO of the Personal Insurance Federation of California (PIFC), the largest and leading personal insurance lines trade association in California. He joined PIFC in 1989 as vice president of Legislative Policy. Before his tenure with PIFC, Dunmoyer worked in the California State Legislature where his service included chief administrative officer for the State Assembly Republican Caucus; and as the senior consultant for the Assembly Finance and Insurance Committee.

Dunmoyer is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration. He also attended Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
