well, if i was eligible, i would take the bonus. if the gov’t wanted to sue me or tax me over it, then i think they have no leg to stand on. these bonuses are derived from the contract i had with the company. if you want to tax anyone, it should be the company for allowing me to attain a bonus.

the issue: if the bailout money is being used to pay the bonus, then i would have a problem with that. our taxpayer money was to keep the company afloat w/o any $$ being used for any bonuses. now, if that person leaves the company because the bonus did not get paid to them, oh well.

90% tax, wow! if i had recieve the bonus and they would have taxed me that, i would be suing! then you would have to prove that all folks need to be taxed that much for any bonus.

as a taxpayer, can we stop giving our money away. afterall, how many times do we see congress giving themselves a payraise with any bill, w/o us noticing. why can’t we tax them for being such greedy people. if our government is in such a rut, when can’t they reduce their own salary. sounds like a good thing to me!

It is so funny to see democrats try to govern. They are used to being the outside party when they can say anything to get voters upset and in a fever over anything relating to business. But now they are in complete control of congress and the white house, so now we get to see them pick a fight say rediculus things then throw in the towel once we get too upset at them for allowing these things to happen. So funny!

I’m on board, ONLY IF every congressman is taxed to the same extent. They’re robbing us also, aren’t they? Pay based upon performance?
Senator’s Dodd and Frank deserve a higher rate though……say 98%.

    Bill,

Please explain how this is a Democrat vs Republican issue. The mess we are in goes across party lines. No one party is 100% to blame. Democrat & Republican lables are outdated and for pratical purposes meaningless. There is a Republican in FL (Crist) who wants everybody else to pay for the insurance in his state. We have a Democrate president who is opposing additional federal regulation. So again, explain to me why D’s are funny and R’s are not. There all bozos to me.

I agree the terms democrat & republican are useless now. republicans are just lighter liberals. the real difference is only found in conservatives (which the republican party has very few if any) and liberals. Liberals are destroying the country at a ridiculous rate and conservatives are the minority trying to save what America once was.

My point is very obvious, Democrats are typically liberal and Republicans traditionaly are conservative.

Democrats now control the white house and congress and my point is, it is hillarious to watch them complain and blame like they have over the last 8 years but now they are the ones responsible for fixing the problems they complaining about. But because they are idiots they always come up with crazy ideas. Tax them at 90% (ha) Obviously unconstitional, Free prisoners at Gitmo (Ha Ha) Crazy! Today, Obama asked congress to give Tax Cheat Gietner authority to take over any company he wants. (Ha Ha Ha.) Unconstitional again!.
    HILARIOUS!

You got it right Stan. Most of the Republicans are no better than the liberal Dems. There is no conservative leadership and the country will pay dearly. I laugh everyday at Obama and Congress as they are so in over their heads. It is actually funny but at the same time pretty hopeless.

I agree with you hopeless, That is the only thing not funny about this. They are dealing with the future of the country.

Stan and Underyder, you too make a good point about republicans who stand for nothing except votes.(Christ) We need to get back to fundamental values of conservatism and prudence with our money and taxes.

Anyone with a little bit of intelligence could tell from the start that Charlie Christ was not a conservative. He fits into the RINO group along with Arnold in CA and our “wonderful” senator George Voinovich.

Typical dummies in congress. There is a small section in the US Constitution under Articles 8 & 9 which prhibit this type of taxation.

But hey when was the last time any of them paid attention to that worn out document.
