Why is there a minimum number of employees required to nominate an agency? If a 2-4 person agency is well run, has highly satisfied and motivated employees, why shouldn’t it be eligible to be one of the “Best” to work for?

How about taking a poll – the absolute worst company to work for. Let’s start with QBE.

I’m an ex-employee of QBE and have to admit that they right-sized me. That is what they called it. What they really did was dump a whole bunch of work on those who remain, and some with salary decreases. This is an awful company to work for. Even their Sr. VP of CL just left them! (and so did their Sr. VP of Claims, and their Sr. VP of PL)

But I have to be fair. QBE is going places and agents should be in a for the rewards of staying with this company when they finally get out of their funk mode. Plus I think that they will buy another regional or two in the next 6-8 months in the US. More to come, all good for agents, but not so good for those poor overworked employees.

QBE is involved in 72 lawsuits for not paying claims for condo associations. How could they be a good company to work for?

Is that in Florida? I think I saw the same article. And yes, there is a dispute I think. But this is a strong company, and they make money. Agents who have QBE will love them. But I don’t know anything about working for them. Arn’t all carriers cutting employees right now?

QBE bought an absolute Cadillac carrier when they bought General Casualty. Then they proceed to gut the company of their entire Sr. VP team. sort of like ripping the leather out of the new Caddie. Why? John Pollock was absolutely one of the finest insurance professionals in the industry, and they showed him the door for some buffoon on the West Coast. And then they started to gut the company of good people. Lots of retirements? I know a few good people left there, and good workers. That is the only reason we keep them in our agency, and continue to feed them business. Good things are coming from QBE I think. But they screwed up with their Home office team.

I think everybody is going crazy to be honest with you. Carriers are cutting good people, they don’t have a clue what direction they want to go. That is all carriers as it appears to me. I heard that West Bend is looking to outsource more support services. Great, get rid of more good people. And the national carriers are always cutting, redirecting, restructuring. Why do you think you see so many EX-Travelers, ex-Hartford, and ex-Zurich people at other companies?
