I believe the financial unit played a big part in the down fall. I believe that these people can have their money once AIG has paid the tax payers back the money they owe us. This way if the ex-employees had any bad behavior while they were working there, they won’t get our money back, they will be paid with AIG’s money-if there is any left.

    Crooks all of them.

If AIG is paying someone who no longer works there, wouldn’t it be more proper to call it hush money? How does AIG retain someone who’s already moved on?

Robert, great idea pay the bonuses after the people are repaid.

How about AIG employee’s who are laid off or terminated due to dept’s being relocated or restructured; they get a pittance of severence pay. Is that fair?

Looks like I’m in the minority, but …..the retention payments were split up, part to be paid in March 09 and the remaining in 2010….evidently they were required to stick around to perform x task and once they did, they were let go…with their payment for having stuck around to be recd in march 2010. That’s a contract.

You have to incent people to stick around a sinking ship. Sorry. Let’s don’t forget who so quickly handed this money to AIG…..our elected representatives…..they gave it “no strings attached”…..Any problem with your leaders??

It’s funny how many people think “the employees of AIG” should be burned at the stake but the truth is, most employees of major worldwide corporations are just doing a very small part of a very small part…they worked every day like you did, and I really don’t get why people think they shouldn’t be paid.

The top brass who came up with the bad business ideas are a different story.

I did not work with or anywhere near the Financial Products group. However, as part of the restructuring after the Federal takeover my P&C business unit was put into run off. Six months later I was shown the door. I did not have a stay put contract, but did get a severance and new the end was coming. Hence I made plans. If I did have a contract and some politician tried to nulify it I would fight like H*ll! Assuming the readers of this newsletter are insurance professionals, you should understand the concept of a contract!!!

Any politician who attempts to interfere with these contracts needs to be SUED PERSONALLY FOR tortious interference in a contract.

And see, the ex AIG that lost their job, not whining and crying, not having had anything to do with AIG’s collapse? do people like this really deserve to get screwed in your mind?
