Excellent commentary Sarah! I was surprised at no rebuffs.

I might add that natural microorganisms have been eating the oil, along with (yes) evaporation. Oil has been naturally seeping into the oceans and this is how nature cleans it up. Big disasters like this however do complicate and mess up things for sometime.

Likely the worst thing done, and perhaps you did mention it was the massive chemicals the Obama admin allowed to be sprayed on the oil, causing most of it to sink out of sight.

Funny how this administration and loving media overlook that 750,000 gallons of toxic dispersants were sprayed from planes by BP with the administrations approval to disperse the oil. Only problem is oil in order to evaporate needs to float otherwise it just sinks to the bottom and the toxic chemicals get into the environment and the oil kills reefs.

So just as this administration always does, they pull a fast one. If you can not see something it will not harm you. Just like every bit of legislation has items that have nothing to do with the title of the legislation. For example the student loans were taken over by the federal government in the healthcare legislation or there is no requirement of the SEC to comply with the freedom of information act in the latest financial reform legislation.

This congress and our president are pulling the wool over your eyes and giving you the “change” they promised. It just is not the “change” you really want.

I have had all the “change” I can stand!

The government is full of it. Oil does not evaporate. I’m sure they have removed a great deal of it but I’m also sure that they local residents of the coastal areas affected would tell a much different story. Politicians in big companies pockets. HMMMM

“No significant threat”, that is, unless you mind 3-headed fish and acid rain.

Looks like the environmental wackos won’t have the field day they wanted. Don’t get me wrong, this was a disaster but the ocean is a pretty hostile place, even for crude and it is being absorbed by the environment to a much greater degree than many will admit. It must hurt them to have to admit to that.

Oil flows naturally into the gulf and oceans from the seabed. This occurs all over the world. The dispersants will probably break down. Fish have a sense of smell and have moved away from the oil/dispersants – that is why we have not had massive fish kills. There is no excuse for any oil rig having such a break down, however, I believe the gulf will recover sooner than anticipated. If we would only listen to the Dutch/Norwegian engineers! They drill in the North Sea and do not have these problems!

    yes, we have to drill.
On the other we shouldn’t be drilling anywhere we can’t shut it down in such an emergency.

Yes, there IS oil remaining! If you poke a hole in the ground in these affected areas, OIL will come pooling up. As for fish kill, fishermen were being paid to get out very early each morning & dredge up all the dead fish along the shore…. so that the media would not see it. This from an oil spill worker/friend of mine on R&R until Brenda passed by.

This administration and the media think we will buy anything they say. Funny how they put titles on things that they really are not. Saved or created jobs? huh…. Recovery act, Stimulus…Huh? Nothing this president says is what it is.

At least I knew what Bush stood for! Right now no one knows where we are going except we know that we dont know.

Oil disperses, companies come and go, and politicians get replaced. Then we’ll get the other side of the coin b*tching an moaning about a whole new set of problems.

unless you can verify it was caught south of Corpus Christi. The oil is still there just not floating like it did.

Do not eat shrimp or snapper from the GOM unless you can verify where it was caught and processed.

It is lying at the bottom of the ocean or floating around in plums. Oil doesn’t evaporate. It may have left the Gulf and is out in the great Atlantic reaking havoc.

Even if it dissapated it is still there, being consumed by all that is living around it and in it.

The cap/plug is not permanent. It is “contained” but is at risk to blow sky high. AS pressure mounts.

I don’t think it will work long term unless it is buried under a landslide of tons of mud, rock etc. It will take a lot, more then man can create. I’m afraid.

    Hope I’m wrong.

BP had forgone their opportunity to suck it up with the Whale and other rigs like it from the very beginning.

Now it would be a tremendous task to try and find the oil to do this. And you can be assured that BP has no intentions in doing spending the money to do that.

Everything they have done to this point has been on the cheap.

Even if it did cost billions.

We ARE about to find out where all of the OIL is. It is underneath. Just hanging below the suface of the gulf waters. AND OBAMA is feeding us BULL!

And when the first hurricane hits the Gulf we will find out the true wrath of this spill. The hurricane WILL pick up the water from the Gulf, with oil in it, and that water will turn to rain all up through the U.S. eastern states.

What are we going to do with dying trees, crops, and other damage from oil laden rain????

Corporations and governments from all sides of the hill have been screwing and covering things up for centuries, it’s just more SENSATIONAL now because we get to see it while it’s happening. I say we keep the scare tactics and politics at a minimum until we know for sure if the oil is dispersed, sunk, or being collected for some shiek’s trophy case. I’m sure some politician, mega businessman or celebrity will trip over their !@#$ and give us all something new to talk about tomorrow.

I find it funny how the media reported over and over and over ad nauseum about how much oil had spilled, how it would take years and years to clean up. Obama of course uses it as a stepping stone to ramming more b.s legislation down our throats in the form of climate change/carbon tax.

Now just like someone flipped a switch, they expect us to believe all this oil is suddenly just gone?

HA! November….please get here sooner before these idiots do any more harm to this country.

Like you said the MEDIA reported that this would be a long term catastrophe. If the media had reported “while the volume of the spill is large, studies indicate that with the current methods of skimming, containment and burning off of the oil, the rest will naturally disperse”, people would have changed the channel. It’s part of the Hockey Fight, Nascar Crash, Train Wreck mentality that fuels this type of half information given to us by so called “news” networks. It’s a bastardized version of the old addage “Headlines Sell Papers” and why retractions and corrections are on page 4, in small print.

Alaska allegedly is still suffering from the effects of the Exxon Valdez spill which occurred March 24, 1989 – 21 years ago, but this event, as the Obama Administration portrays, has just evaporated in days? Who do we believe?

Is there a double-standard here among the environ – mentalists because Obama is THEIR president?

The evironmentalists and the liberals that enable them know that no one is visiting the North Slope nor ANWAR to verify the claims being made about these inaccessible regions. The Gulf is easily accessed, so they can’t lie about it without being immediately caught lying.

And, yes it is true that millions of barrels of crude leak naturally into the Gulf. If its naturally occurring, how could it be a “disaster”.

Yes, this was a tragic error, but it doesn’t spell the end of the world, nor will it be any longterm problem. It’s just terrible that the federal government over-reacted and put millions of people out of work temporarily in the height of a major recession which has been exacerbated by wrong-headed meddling by Pelosi, Reid and the Obama Administration.
