They need to figure out what the heck they are going to do in Personal lines first. they can’t make up their mind if they are in or out. and for being a big company, they won’t write anything but vanilla.
Ok, I’ll be the first to post. Buy all of QBE that you can get. This company is going places! Look out. They will make 2 or 3 more major acquisitions in the U.S. in the next 3 years. Watch.
Don’t worry about Personal Lines. If QBE can’t figure it out, they’ll just go and buy a bigger and better Personal lines company and will roll their product into that company. QBE won’t stand idle if they can’t figure out Personal Lines. This will be a top 5 U.S. carrier by 2015. Traveler’s, Lib Mutual, and QBE may even end up as the top 3. Look for more acquisitions.
Being a former General Casualty employee and now with a large General Casualty agency, I keep hearing that QBE is about to get reorganized in the U.S. So we’ll see what their clear direction is as soon as that all gets announced. Hopefully Personal Lines has more clear support of the strong global influence of QBE, and they will start acting more like a large national carrier than the small-minded carrier they have been. QBE should bring so much influcence and strength, but it seems like their product people aren’t smart enough or confident enough to use that strength.
