We are working longer, staying alert longer and continuing to use our brain cells.
It is possible to be a senior and still
have control of the body faculties. Living in a college town I find the college students and some of the elderly seniors in the running for the most dangerous drivers. Young people think they are invincible and capable of multi tasking. Phones and texting while driving, paying little attention to other
vehicles…laughing their heads off with their friends. I see very few seniors involved in multi tasking, even though they still appear that they do not know what is going on around them at times.

A good reason for the improved record is that today’s seniors grew up with cars and fast cars. Their skills have been around longer. For example, my grandparents didn’t drive until later in life and my grandmothers didn’t learn to drive as early as my grandfathers. It wasn’t part of the culture for most women to have the ability to drive back then.
