Aspen Insurance Adds Inland Marine, Ocean Marine Cargo Insurance

Aspen Insurance now offers inland marine and ocean marine cargo insurance products in the U.S. Aspen will utilize both broker and agency distribution and will consider specialized managing general agents for select lines of business.

Rich Soja, executive vice president and chief marine underwriter for the U.S., will be responsible for overseeing the development of the marine businesses and will report to Bill Murray, president of U.S. insurance. Soja joined Aspen in August 2010, after 22 years at Chubb Insurance, where he was most recently the global marine manager.

Don Keahon, senior vice president of inland marine, joined Aspen in September 2010 from OneBeacon where he was the nationwide leader of inland marine. The inland team will be targeting traditional insurance products such as contractors’ equipment, builders risk and motor truck cargo, as well more unique coverage such as floaters, fine arts, leased property, installments sales and floor plan.

Bob Gallozzi, senior vice president of ocean marine cargo who has 30 years of marine insurance experience was most recently responsible for U.S. commercial marine insurance at ACE. The ocean marine team will be seeking opportunities in agricultural, commodity, technological, food and industrial segments.

Messrs, Keahon and Gallozzi will each report to Soja.
