Specialty insurer Markel Corp. said today that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alan Kirshner may be absent from the corporation’s offices for most of December and January while receiving medical treatments.
Kirshner said he plans to resume day-to-day activities in February. He expressed confidence in the oversight and leadership that will be provided in his absence by other key executives including Steve Markel, Tony Markel, Mike Crowley, Tom Gayner and Richie Whitt.
