We could add a regulation that burdens an industry $400 million, or we could all start wearing our seatbelts every time we drive!

I just think that since seatbelts are already there and the law says you have to wear them, additional expense to the consumer and the industry is not cost effective.

We should not need cocoons. Anything added to a vehicle will add weight, which not only causes more damage to whatever it hits, but also reduces fuel mileage. Let’s look at two other points. The first is the DRIVER. More training, more reasonable traffic laws, and better enforcement. The second is roads, with poor maintenance and confusing traffic patterns. Throw in reform of idiotic speed limits set well below prevailing speed to enrich local coffers rather than smooth traffic flow.
