Are we at all surprised by their stance, I’m not – big biz does not want to be accountable & responsible for their mishap yet the people & families in the Gulf Coast areas continue to suffer and are unable to get their home or businesses back in order. The fines that are to be levied, let’s do it now and collect some of these funds and help “our” folks out down there – my gosh, almost one year has passed and we’re still dancing around the issues and problems.

Or on the other hand are the government vultures flocking? Was it Ted Kennedy who said “Never let a good crisis go to waste” Before you condemn my comments – I plan to do my part and vacation in Louisiana this year how about the rest of you joining me?

And to think that the Texas GOP Congressman apologized to BP when Obama wanted $20 Billion to ensure they would not shirk their responsibility.

Sounds like you side with Rep. Joe Barton who appologized in congress to BP for the “shakedown” that the governement is supposedly raining down upon them.

Barton leads the nation in congressman who have received the most money from oil companies. How this guy is still in office baffles the mind. Good for you for traveling to LA this year. But this is more than a Ted Kennedy trivial moment. This is real and will last a long time. BP is just dragging it out even longer. Shame on them.

I’m not going to Louisiana, but am going to Pensacola, which was also hit.

It is really stomach turning how the posters here will always find fault with the government. So if we appease the majority of posters, and remove all government oversight/regulation of business (too costly and job killers), what do you suppose BP’s response would have been?

D – I’m not against pursuing justified reparations, just against government greed. Who do you trust more the government or BP?

Lets see….corporation with almost unlimited funds and a proven record of corporate intransigence and complete lack of accountability or United States Government elected by the people? hmmm hmm what a conundrum…I guess if I’m a Republican, I trust the great and awesome BP Oil. After all, they wouldn’t lie to us like the government would, right?
