This is absolutely absurd. Here you have the very people who let Fannie and Freddie cast their lot with an unparalleled stupidity, sat back quietly as all of these instruments, being CDO’s, Derivatives and a plethora other varied obligations be executed, watched the rating agencies go berserk and then have the brass to investigate the toxicity of the basis that caused the problem. They have absolutely no idea as to the inner workings of the industry, and they wouldn’t know or understand systemic risk if they tripped over it. But insofar as Governmental regulations go, this THEY KNOW ! Some day, hopefully in the near future, we may actually have some people in the Government who have actually been successful business people in a wide spectrum of industry.
