Insurer Group NAMIC Honors Hartwig

The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) named Robert P. Hartwig, Ph.D., president/CEO of the Insurance Information Institute, New York, N.Y., as the association’s 2011 Chairman’s Award winner.

Hartwig has been with III since 1998, initially as an economist and was appointed president/CEO in 2007. His work has been focused on improving the understanding of key insurance issues across all industry stakeholders, including media, consumers, regulators, and legislators.

He has testified before numerous state and federal regulatory and legislative bodies, including the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises, and the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

Hartwig also serves as a media spokesperson for the property/casualty insurance industry.

The NAMIC Chairman’s Award was created to recognize leadership, accomplishment, and outstanding service to NAMIC and the property/casualty insurance industry. Hartwig is the 48th recipient of the award.
