ProHost has started offering employment practices liability insurance for restaurants, including wage and hour defense coverage. The product will cover claims from both customers and employees.
Wage and hour claims have become a big problem for businesses, and especially for restaurants. ProHost’s new coverage provides a $150,000 sublimit for legal defense of these claims.
The product also offers insureds an employment law helpline, Internet-based training courses and criminal background checks for newly hired/promoted supervisors and managers.
ProHost’s coverage includes suits from customers over discrimination and harassment. It will aslo cover allegatiosn by employees of harassment and discrimination.
The minimum premium is $750. The commission is 10 percent. Coverage is available on an admitted basis in 44 states and the District of Columbia.
The Minneapolis, Minn.-based program administrator also underwrites a variety of other coverages for restaurants, bars and nightclubs. It is a member of the Target Markets Program Administrators Association.
