I live near a community college and often times I pass by when evening classes end. EVERY driver sitting at the light waiting to exit the school is on the cell phone. How did we communicate before cell phones? And do we really have that much more to say today?
Totally agree. I have just noticed that at almost every stoplight, when the light turns green, you have to beep at the first driver in line to get them to look up long enough from their cell phone to see that the light has changed. With everyone so addicted to their phones, I wondered how long it would take for traffic fatalities to jump up.
I think it’s a mixture of different variables; Cell phones, young drivers, drivers who do not pay attention, drunk drivers, speeding, and road conditions. There is increased driver deaths the larger cities due to the road conditions or people trying to drive like they are on the autobahn. People need to be careful and pay attention, driving is a responsibility that should be taken seriously.
The smaller the car the more horsepower these auto companies are mfg. Since when do we need this much H.P to drive 65 miles per hour. I am not against horsepower, but when you put it in the hands of inexperienced driver, it is a disaster waiting to happen.
Next time your driving a long distance pay attention to the cars that are doing 80 to 90 mph. This and cell phones are a deadly cocktail. Just my opinion!
12 people and 20 something wounded in one night. 7630 people killed in auto accidents in 1st quarter! This =635 per week divide by 7 =90.83 per day! Why no outrage on these kind of figures! Drinking and or driving too close, texting, not paying attention can & do add to the figures.
Yes we mourn those that died, but where is the call for stopping the thousands of families that have to mourn each month!!!
Two words — cell phones.
I was thinking the same thing.
Count the drivers you see today on their cellphones compared to not. It will terrify you.

The economy is “thriving”?
I blame wide-spread cell phone use.
