Arch Insurance Group, a member of Arch Capital Group Ltd., has released a new blogger insurance program. Partnering with CalSurance Associates, a division of Brown & Brown Program Insurance Services, Inc., Arch Insurance Group will provide a new liability insurance product, BloggerShield Insurance for Bloggers. BloggerShield provides affordable, customized claims-made coverage for libel, slander, defamation, copyright infringement, and privacy violation in the course of the insured’s blogging activities.
BloggerShield will offer options to customers such as a zero-deductible option, multiple limits option, and a supplemental claim expense limit. The coverage protects bloggers from potential lawsuits that could otherwise put both their blog content and personal assets at risk.
“As bloggers have learned to monetize their blogs and develop successful blog-based businesses, the need for insurance protection in the blogger community is something we can no longer ignore,” said Tom Hext, chief technology officer of CalSurance Associates and program manager for the development of BloggerShield. “Bloggers are more vulnerable than ever to the threat of legal action, as evidenced by the increasing number of blog-related lawsuits. Without insurance protection, bloggers remain susceptible to the financial cost of defending lawsuits, potentially compromising their blog and their personal assets.”
Arch Insurance Group Inc. is a member of Arch Capital Group Ltd., a Bermuda-based company that provides insurance and reinsurance on a worldwide basis through its wholly-owned subsidiaries.
Founded in 1962, CalSurance Associates, a division of Brown & Brown Program Insurance Services, Inc., is a professional liability insurance industry provider located in Orange, Calif.
