I deal with state insurance regulations everyday and it is a headache but I strongly disagree with a more centralized approach. Centralizing regulatory authority is the best way to make the rich richer and poor poorer, in other words it may (only may) help the few big states at the cost of the many other states. I don’t understand the logic behind this one size fits all mentality because it doesn’t fit all. In my opinion the more de-centralized the better.
I am in full agreement that the decentralized “states rights” approach is more responsive to local needs and geographical requirements. Bigger government never quite seems to be able to get it right without making eeryone else poorer.
