More likely these members of Congress are concerned that the companies which have bought them off are unable to manipulate international process like they do the US process. The best thing for the American people and the country would be to follow the international standards.
I guess your’e OK giving up your sovereignty and letting peaceful and open minded countries like North Korea, Iran, Cuba, China, etc. determine standards for things such as human rights as the UN has allowed them to do?
You are right Dave. How about us regulating Europe and the rest of the world for systemic risk in their activities? Have them send a report to Treasury that might affect our economy! Are any of them buying our products at a greater rate than we are buying theirs?
Remember the Marshall Plan? In the past we have dictated to Europe…. and they ended up with Universal Healthcare while Americans went without for 60 years! go figure
And their economies are suffering for it (excluding one or two Nordic states but that’s only because the Norse are descended from basically demi-gods.)

Fundamentally change America by weakening Her over and over again is Obamanation’s admitted goal. Don’t all Muslim’s hate America?
Answer: “Yes”
Hey Destro, good one. Poor Nan thinks Obamacare has not increased the systemic risk for this country financially. How big does the deficit have to be to be concerning for a liberal? I don’t know if you have seen it, but the government took in record tax revenue for the first quarter and still ran a $300 Billion deficit. There is not enough revenue in the world that they can’t outspend it.
Remember when Bawney and Chris said there was no problem with Fannie & Freddy and they were sound? The basic problem in America is that the politicians and bureaucrats do not regulate well to the detriment of the people.
Libby, I don’t trust anyone outside the United States to regulate anything of ours. Look how poor of a job the UN has done. They are a joke and are against everything we stand for.

To a liberal the words “deficit” and “too big” don’t belong anywhere near each other.
Americans and our commerce should be and always only be regulated by Americans.

That’s why we ought to turn it over to someone who might.

Ah, so you DO want regulation. I wish you guys would make up yer minds…
Celtica, I certainly don’t want Europe or Asia to regulate anything for this country. I think they have a different agenda in mind.
It’s not so much that we want regulation so much as we don’t want needless legislation that causes more problems than it solves.
