In 1981, while driving to Daytona Beach after high school graduation, one of my buddies wedged his rubber flip flop in between the brake pedal and the gas pedal in my 1975 Chevy Nova to put pressure on the gas pedal and create our own homemade cruise control. It worked flawlessly. I guess technology has progressed somewhat from those good old days.

This is scary. Enough drivers fall asleep at the wheel as it is. On long, straight stretches of road, with nothing to do but sit in the car, I suspect the numbers of people nodding off will increase. Then, when the driver needs to take over I guess the car will just coast to a stop-maybe on the shoulder, maybe in the lane, maybe into the car ahead of it. Imagine the numbers of drivers that will be having lunch, working, watching videos, playing games, etc. and not paying any attention to what’s going on. Like I said–scary.

You forgot texting. Drivers are absolutely entranced by their cells and cannot leave them alone for a moment.

With all the problems and recalls GM has had to deal with lately I don’t think I care to drive or rather ride in one of their driverless cars!

It took them years to figure out how to make an ignition switch that could handle multiple keys on the key ring so how confident should we be with their hands free??? This will be good though so we can get back to our important texting…

Most of the smart manufacturers have push button starting in their ignition.

You can install the technology into a GM, but you can’t take the GM out of the technology. You know what would be nice technology – power windows that don’t break and AC’s that are reliable.

While I think there will always be accidents, even with this sort of technology, and it will probably be a lot of trial and error in the early years…I welcome this change. Even as shoddy as GM may be…I trust their technology more so than I do most drivers today.

I trust that I won’t be driving one of their cars in the future as well. Are you willing to trust your life and your family with a car? Thank you, but I will take my chances with my own judgment.

But Agent, you could get more time to dislike lefty comments while simultaneously going to town in your lap with a hands free car. You will succumb.

Agent, how many times do I have to write, I DO NOT use the buttons out here. I couldn’t care less. I’d rather not have them entirely. Further, I don’t want your comments hidden, everyone should be able to see exactly what you think. I find a lot of what you write downright hilarious, even if you don’t intend it to be that way. Romney in a landslide – oh man, that’s precious.

But as far as me driving into a river is concerned, you do know I am a father of 2, right? Yes, I have been making fun lately, but that is solely due to your censorship. You obviously do use these thumb buttons. Why do you feel the need to quiet others who don’t agree with you? You’ve admitted to it, so don’t deny. Just let comments stand. Some find what I and txmouth write to be funny, too. Can’t we try and spread some laughter? Just take a joke and quit being so dang defensive. I don’t care if you putt from the rough. That is called a Texas wedge, right?

Agent, I have a feeling you and I will be gone from the earth before you really truly have to worry about this.

I would love a hands free car, but even as they start to hit the market, I know I’m a very long ways from actually getting one.

So while you usual snark is appreciated, it’s a little bit overzealous in this situation.

        Benghazi! opps…I mean, Bazinga!

Agent, for the record. I do not doubt you are a decent person and a good family man. It’s your war on people you don’t agree with out here and we are just playing some 1990’s Chicago Bulls-esque defense out here. And this is the first 3-Peat team, we haven’t acquired Rodman yet. ##91!

Planet, for the record, you are probably a decent guy and family man, but you are misguided, hence all the goofy emails you post that have nothing to do with the subject matter. I don’t have a war on people, just Progressive Liberals who think they are smarter than Conservatives with Common Sense. There are many more Conservatives on this site than Liberals and they do agree with my positions. Your insults do not make it on this forum.

1 – Agent is not a decent person, it was even reported by Fox News

2 – Liberals and Progressives ARE smarter than Conservatives, Conservatives join packs because they can’t fend for themselves (and are obese and need guns for protection).

3 – It only appears there are more conservatives because you have a quick click finger

4 – You need to stop worrying about American Politics. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you and your citizens of Texico.

Planet, yours, Libby’s and Boogers insults are not humor except to you. How about saying something intelligent for a change and you might be surprised that someone else agrees with you. I think your record is about 2% agreement, 98% disagreement right now. Booger is 0% agreement and Libby is running about 5%, mainly on P&C issues. Put your thinking cap on and just try to say something that is pertinent to the discussion. I know that is a big ask.

I wonder what this may do to the DUI revenue. They may have to rewrite laws. In fact, many alcohol related events would decrease. Instead of walking home and getting a public intox, just sit in the car and ride. Screw the revenue, think about how many lives could be saved not only literally but also economically by not having made the wrong decision. Not to mention, think about how many horrible drivers are out there. And I don’t mean just Florida, I mean everywhere.

From the sounds of it, the Palins could have used one of these cars last Saturday night. Flipping Alaskan hillbillies – pull up in a stretch Hummer, leave shirtless and bleeding. Stay classy, Palin Family.

I wonder who is getting paid today for the footage on his/her phone. Come on TMZ, don’t let me down!

Hi Captain, that reminds me of I nightmare I had. I was at that pumpkin bumpkin fest and I saw that them there klan. Sarah offered to gave me a “stretch hummer” to make sure I didn’t report the footage to TMZ.
